CASE FINISHING

The entire case is entirely hand-finished, a process that takes three times as long as a conventional case. Using traditional techniques, it is formed from a single block, CNC-shaped, and then refined by hand. Crafted from Finnish-imported 316L stainless steel — the choice of many Swiss brands — the case achieves a whiter, brighter, warmer, and more refined appearance, at a higher cost.

The entire process took five months, involving four design revisions and multiple 3D-printed prototypes, tested on wrists of various sizes and shapes before final approval. The resulting double-domed sapphire crystal is crafted from European-imported materials and features a 5-layer colorless anti-reflective coating on the inside. A crystal-clear sapphire glass is the most fundamental feature of a fine timepiece.

In the design of the lug construction, our initial proposal followed the prevailing split-structure approach — lugs pre-fixed with screws and then spot-welded to the case. While this would have drastically simplified finishing, the welding marks and the potential risk of fracture conflicted with our philosophy of making watches that last. We ultimately abandoned this approach and returned to traditional craftsmanship: the case is formed from a single block, CNC-shaped, and then hand-finished. This decision significantly increased both production cost and time, but the result is a visual integrity indistinguishable from — and in fact even more refined than — a split design.

The step depth of the lugs is central to the visual layering. Too shallow, and the design falls flat; too deep, and it becomes bulky. Through multiple rounds of prototyping and fine-tuning, we found the perfect balance, ensuring visual harmony and elegance. To achieve both wearing comfort and aesthetic appeal across different wrist sizes, we repeatedly refined the radius at the tips of the elongated lugs. After several rounds of 3D prototyping and wear-testing, we settled on the ideal curvature — one that delivers a flowing silhouette and a snug, ergonomic fit.

The case is electroplated in a light-tone rose gold at a higher cost, yet it delivers superior plating durability, a complete and meticulous finishing process, and genuine gold content.

What others overlook, we pursue with dedication. The buckle is crafted from the same Finnish stainless steel, with the same stepped mirror reverse-bevel edge finishing, and the same flawlessly contoured fit on the wrist.

The distinctive goose-egg-shaped bezel is the defining highlight of the design. Its irregular curves demand extreme machining precision. To faithfully realize our original vision, we made numerous production adjustments and, despite a very high rejection rate, ultimately succeeded in bringing this signature feature from the drawing board to reality.
